Description and Goals:
The senior student will serve as an acting intern on the General Surgery Oncology Service of the University of Maryland Hospital. These services serve a large volume of critical cancer cases. Emphasis is placed on continuity of care, including following each patient through preoperative evaluation, surgery, post-op care and clinic follow-up. The senior student will be an integral member of the surgical team consisting of surgical oncology faculty and surgical housestaff.
