Description and Goals:

The Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery offers a Sub-Internship for senior students. Students serve as a member of the surgical team and assume all of those responsibilities usually and appropriately delegated to Interns. The goals of this program are to develop proficiency in understanding, diagnosis and management of the patient with surgical heart and lung disease. Wide experience is given in the care of the surgical patient including treatment of arrhythmia, post-operative fluid and nutritional care and operating room technology.
